Biden to Request Billions for Immigration Agencies
As part of a sweeping emergency funding request to congress for aid to both Israel and Ukraine, President Biden intends to ask for more than $8 billion for the Department of Homeland Security and billions more for other agencies with a role in immigration, Stef W. Kight reports for Axios. The border funding will go toward direct immigration enforcement, international efforts to slow migration, support for major U.S. cities struggling to accommodate migrants, and attempts to crack down on fentanyl smuggling. The supplemental package is expected to be sent to Congress by the end of the week.
