Chicago Thieves Use Stolen Vehicles as Bettering Ram, Making Off With Thousands in Merchandise
Chicago police say several city stores have been victims of smash-and-grab burglaries in which a stolen vehicle is used as a battering ram to initiate the crime, Charlie Wojciechowski reports for NBC5 Chicago. A Tri-Taylor shoe store is the latest victim of such an instance, with a group of suspects using a stolen vehicle on Wednesday to break through the reinforced storefront and make off with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. On Tuesday, a group of thieves also used a stolen Dodge Charger to smash through the storefront of a River North shoe store. Police have yet to determine if any of the incidents are connected, and no one is in custody.
