D.C. Man Sentenced to Over Two Years in Prison for Assaulting U.S. Congressperson, Police

A Washington, D.C. resident was sentenced Thursday to 27 months in prison, followed by 36 months of supervised release, for an assault on a member of Congress and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Columbia. Kendrid Khalil Hamlin assaulted the United States Congressperson in the lobby of an apartment complex on the morning of February 9th, 2023. When local authorities responded to the incident, located Hamlin, and attempted to arrest him, he also assaulted the responding officers. Hamlin has remained in custody since the arrest.
