Former Las Vegas Cop Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Robbing Three Casinos
A former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for stealing more than $160,000 in three casino heists, Livia Albeck-Ripka reports for the New York Times. Prosecutors allege that Caleb M. Rogers robbed the Red Rock, Aliante and Rio casinos between November 2021 and February 2022, in one case even using his own service weapon, in order to feed a gambling addiction. Rogers has been on unpaid suspension and in jail since his arrest while trying to flee the scene of his last robbery attempt on February 27 and was sentenced Tuesday after being found guilty of three counts of robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm and was ordered to pay more than $85,000 in restitution.
