Four Current/Former California Law Enforcement Employees Die by Suicide in 24 Hours
One former and three current Sheriff’s Department employees killed themselves Monday, including active Commander Darren Harris, a former spokesman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and a captain who led the department’s transportation services, Perry Smith reports for The Signal. The other employees included a retired sergeant in the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, and two custody workers at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement Tuesday saying they, “have the deepest concern for our employees’ well-being, and we are urgently exploring avenues to reduce work stress factors to support our employees’ work and personal lives.”
