Princeton Student Sentenced to Two Months Behind Bars for Participating in January 6 Riot

A former Princeton University student was sentenced on Wednesday to two months of incarceration for storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6 and interfering with police officers trying to hold off a mob of Donald Trump supporters, Michael Kunzelman reports for the Associated Press. Larry Fife Giberson, who pleaded guilty in July to interfering with police during a civil disorder, joined the crowd on January 6 in a coordinated push against officers guarding an entrance in a tunnel on the Capitol’s Lower West Terrace. Giberson was also sentenced to six months of home detention after his term of imprisonment. Prosecutors had recommended sentencing Giberson to 11 months behind bars, but U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols said Giberson’s youth weighed in favor of a more lenient sentence.
